Phones with flexible screens (if we can call them phones at all?) Have reached their third generation. The first generation was only there to show that the concept made sense and was realistically achievable, but those phones were as fragile as toothpicks. The second generation fixed most of the shortcomings of its predecessors, but without additional protection, it was still difficult to convince customers that flexible phones were something worth thinking about. The third generation, which in this case is represented only by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, goes a step further with the design - it is lighter, more durable, and this time equipped with IPX8 certification for water resistance. An impressive step forward that we didn't expect so early with flexible phones.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is also the first flexible phone to arrive in the Bytebox editorial office for testing, while the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is expected soon. It is for this reason that I approached this "review" from the perspective of someone who is using a flexible screen phone for the first time. I believe most of you have never used a flexible phone either so I hope you find this perspective interesting.

I keep repeating that this is a flexible phone but, as I tested it, all the time I had the feeling that it was a “tablet I could carry in my pocket”. And that is one of the many questions I asked myself before using the flexible phone, that is. what the “feeling” will be when used. I was also wondering what is a flexible touch screen like? Is it soft? Does the quality of workmanship suffer from the hinge? Can he get used to the size? All of that is answered in the video, but I wouldn't be me if I hadn't tried some "silly things". Eg. I installed the desktop operating system clean to see how feasible and practical it is.đŸ™‚

If by any chance you are not familiar with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, here are some basics. It costs 1799 EUR in a variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. It has a Snapdragon 888 processor and a 4400 mAh battery (which holds surprisingly well). The external screen is 6.2 ”AMOLED with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a strange 25: 9 aspect ratio. The internal (flexible) screen is also 120 Hz AMOLED, but much larger than 7.6 ”. It has three 12 MP cameras on the back (wide, ultrawide, and telephoto), and it also has two front cameras (10 MP external and 4 MP cameras on the internal screen). Watch the video review below.
